Why Visit?
Sacred Valley: A blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and impressive ruins. Visit iconic sites like Ollantaytambo and Pisac, and explore lesser-known gems like Moray. The Sacred Valley is the perfect place to connect with the past while enjoying breathtaking views.
Classic Inca Trail: Not just a hike, but a spiritual pilgrimage through ancient Inca pathways, past cloud forests, and through high-altitude mountain passes. The sense of accomplishment when you reach Machu Picchu is unmatched, making the Inca Trail one of the world’s most rewarding outdoor experiences.
Practical Tips for Travelers:
Best Time to Visit: The ideal time to visit the Sacred Valley and trek the Inca Trail is during the dry season (April to October), with the peak months being June through August. The rainy season (November to March) is less crowded, but trail conditions can be muddy.
Altitude: Both Cusco (3,400 meters / 11,150 feet) and parts of the Sacred Valley are at high altitudes. To avoid altitude sickness, it’s recommended to spend a few days acclimatizing in Cusco or the Sacred Valley before beginning your trek.
Permits: The Classic Inca Trail requires permits, and they sell out quickly—especially during peak season. Book your permits well in advance (ideally 6 months or more). The trek is limited to 500 people per day (including guides and porters), so early booking is crucial.
Physical Preparation: The Inca Trail is moderately challenging, so hikers should be in good physical shape. If you’re not accustomed to hiking at altitude, it’s important to train beforehand and give your body time to adjust to the high elevations.
