Exploring Cusco Tour FAQs

Logistics & Planning

Are the Short Inca Trail permits guaranteed?

Yes, provided you book in advance. These permits are strictly capped and often sell out months ahead. Once your booking is confirmed, we secure your specific KM 104 and Sun Gate permits for Day 3, ensuring you don't miss this exclusive entrance.

Can I still climb Huayna Picchu on this tour?

Absolutely. While the Short Inca Trail provides a stunning view from the Sun Gate, you can add a Huayna Picchu permit for your Day 4 morning visit. Please request this at the time of booking, as these specialized 2026 circuit tickets are extremely limited.

Is the Short Inca Trail very difficult?

The trek is 12km (approx. 6–7 hours) and is rated as moderate. The path is mostly uphill but well-maintained. We have specifically placed this on Day 3 so you have two full days of Sacred Valley acclimatization before you begin the hike.

How do you handle the extreme altitude of Rainbow Mountain?

By Day 5, your body will be well-adjusted thanks to our low-to-high strategy. However, reaching 5,150m is still a challenge. Our guides carry professional-grade oxygen tanks and medical kits on every expedition to ensure your safety and comfort at the summit.

What are the hotels like?

We exclusively use RumiPunko or Tierra Viva Hotels, which offer a blend of boutique luxury and local charm. These hotels are famous for their high-quality breakfast buffets, comfortable bedding, and strategic locations that minimize travel time between sites.

Will I have to carry a heavy pack on the Inca Trail?

No. You only need to carry a daypack with your essentials (water, camera, rain gear). Your main luggage will be securely transported by our team and will be waiting for you at your hotel in Aguas Calientes when you finish the trek.
