Sacred Valley & 2 Day Inca Trail Tour to Machu Picchu

Begin your Sacred Valley adventure with an 8:00 AM pick-up from your hotel for a day of discovery. Your first stop is a traditional Alpaca Farm, where you’ll meet llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas and learn about their importance in Andean life and textile traditions. Next, explore the Pisac Inca Ruins, famous for their vast agricultural terraces and views over the valley. Afterward, stroll through the lively Pisac Market, the perfect place to browse colorful handicrafts, jewelry, and local souvenirs.

Continue your journey to Urubamba, where you’ll enjoy an Andean lunch surrounded by stunning landscapes. In the afternoon, visit the Ollantaytambo Inca Site, a fortress and ceremonial center known for its massive stone terraces, intricate temples, and history as one of the last strongholds of the Incas.

You’ll spend the night in the historic town of Ollantaytambo, where cobblestone streets, old canals, and Inca foundations give the town a special feel that links the past with the present.

On Day 1 of the 2-Day Short Inca Trail, you’ll start with an early 5:45 am pick-up from your hotel in Ollantaytambo, then head to the train station for a scenic ride to Km 104, the trek’s starting point. At Km 104, the hike begins with a visit to Chachabamba, an important Inca archaeological site. Here, you’ll learn about the area’s history and significance as a ceremonial center. From there, the trail ascends through lush cloud forests and Andean landscapes, where you’ll be surrounded by stunning natural beauty, including diverse flora and fauna.

After a moderate climb of around 3hrs, you’ll arrive at Wiñay Wayna, one of the most impressive Inca ruins on the trail. Set at 2,650 meters (8,694 feet), Wiñay Wayna is known for its large agricultural terraces, Inca stone structures, and breathtaking views of the valley below. After exploring this remarkable site, you’ll enjoy a camping-style lunch at the Wiñayhuayna Campsite, freshly prepared by our chef. A hot meal is the perfect way to recover energy before continuing your hike.

From Wiñay Wayna, you’ll hike toward the Sun Gate, also known as Inti Punku. Here, you’ll get your first amazing view of Machu Picchu, with the citadel set among the mountains. It’s a moment you’ll always remember.

After enjoying the views, you’ll head down to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll stay overnight. This town at the foot of Machu Picchu is a great place to relax and get ready for your guided visit to the ancient citadel the next day.

Today is the highlight of your journey: a visit to Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
You’ll start the day early, waking up around 5:00 am. Breakfast is ready from 5:30 am. Soon after, your guide will meet you at the hotel to walk to the bus station together. The bus ride to Machu Picchu takes about 30 minutes. At the entrance, have your original passport and entry ticket ready for inspection.

Your visit will begin with Circuit 3, the standard route for all Inca Trail hikers as required by current regulations. If you want to visit Circuit 2, which offers some of the most iconic panoramic views of Machu Picchu, you can add this for an extra $55 per person. In that case, you’ll first complete your guided walk on Circuit 3, then re-enter with your Circuit 2 ticket. Confirm this option with your travel advisor when booking.

The guided tour of Machu Picchu lasts about 2 hours, covering the most remarkable temples, terraces, and ceremonial spaces. If you have tickets to Huayna Picchu Mountain, which must be booked in advance at an additional cost, you’ll enjoy a memorable 2-hour round-trip hike with incredible views of the citadel from above. If you do not hike Huayna Picchu, you’ll conclude your guided visit with time to take in the beauty of the citadel and bid farewell to Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu is divided into three circuits, each slightly different, and none cover the entire citadel. This system was introduced to preserve the site, so make sure you know which circuit is included in your ticket before booking.

In the afternoon, you’ll board the return train to Ollantaytambo, enjoying the scenic ride through the Sacred Valley. Upon arrival, your driver will meet you at the station and transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco, arriving around 8:00 pm.
