Day 01: Welcome to Peru

Upon your arrival, our representative will be waiting for you at the international exit gate of Lima Airport to take you to your hotel accommodation. No tours are scheduled for this afternoon, giving you time to rest and acclimatize.

Day 02: Rainforest Explorer - Tambopata Lodge

Arrival in Puerto Maldonado & Journey to the Ecolodge.

IMPORTANT: Your flight to Puerto Maldonado must arrive before 1:00 PM in order to ensure a safe and timely boat ride to the lodge during daylight hours. This is crucial for your safety and to make the most of your journey through the rainforest.

Upon arriving in Puerto Maldonado, you’ll be welcomed by our staff, who will escort you on a fascinating 68-kilometer journey (23 km by vehicle, 45 km by boat) along the Tambopata River to your Ecolodge. As you leave the town behind, the landscape transforms from deforested areas to lush, untouched virgin rainforest, setting the stage for your ecotourism adventure. The boat ride offers incredible opportunities to observe native flora and spot Amazon wildlife, with your experienced naturalist guide pointing out species along the way. A box lunch will be served onboard.

Exploring the Rainforest & Evening Activities
Once you arrive and settle into your eco-lodge, your guide will lead you on an exploration of the surrounding trails. Along the way, you’ll encounter giant Brazil nut trees and the chance to spot wildlife such as brown capuchin monkeys, agoutis, blue morpho butterflies, trogons, toucans, and more. In the evening, enjoy a slideshow presentation that introduces you to the wonders of the rainforest. Day 03: Forest trails and wetlands

Morning Exploration & Birdwatching at Condenado Oxbow Lake

After a hearty buffet breakfast, embark on a short boat ride followed by a forest walk to explore the stunning Condenado oxbow lake by canoe. Surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, this wetland area is a prime location for birdwatching, offering the chance to spot a variety of aquatic and terrestrial species. As you continue your walk along the trail, you’ll encounter towering trees such as the strangler fig and the mighty kapok, which stretches high above the forest canopy, providing a dramatic view of the rainforest.

Afternoon Free Time & Leisure
Back at the Ecolodge, enjoy a delicious buffet lunch before spending the afternoon at leisure. You can explore the extensive trail system around the lodge, wander through the lush gardens, or relax by taking a dip in the cool, clear waters of the nearby Gallocunca stream swimming hole. Alternatively, unwind in a hammock on your cabin’s porch and enjoy the sounds of the jungle.

Evening Caiman Search & Nocturnal Adventure
After a fulfilling buffet dinner, your naturalist guide will lead a presentation on caimans, highlighting the species that inhabit the Tambopata region. Later, take a boat ride on the river to search for caimans and other nocturnal rainforest creatures. As the night falls, the air will come alive with the sounds of the jungle, adding a magical atmosphere to your adventure.

Day 04: Deeper into the forest

Exploration of Lake Sachavacayoc & Wetland Ecosystem

Today, we venture deeper into the heart of the rainforest to visit the Lake Sachavacayoc wetland ecosystem. After a short boat ride downriver, we’ll embark on a fascinating forest trail that crosses streams and marshy ground, navigating raised walkways and wooden bridges. Along the way, you’ll encounter a variety of tree species, including capirona, strangler fig, palo santo, bamboo, and several palm varieties.

The forests around this beautiful oxbow lake are teeming with birdlife, and the waters are home to black caimans and the magnificent green anaconda. Visitors may also be fortunate enough to spot the rare Amazon giant river otter. After exploring the trail, we’ll take to the lake for an hour-long canoe ride, immersing ourselves in the serene beauty of the wetlands.

Return Journey & Wildlife Spotting
We’ll return to the river via a different trail, where our expert naturalist guide will help spot wildlife, such as capuchin and squirrel monkeys, which are commonly seen along the way.

Afternoon Leisure & Evening Social Time
Back at the Ecolodge in the afternoon, take time to relax in a hammock or enjoy a refreshing dip in the nearby Gallocunca stream. After a satisfying buffet dinner, unwind and mingle with fellow guests in the bar and lounge, sharing stories of the day’s adventures.

Day 05: Morning River Journey and flight to Cusco

Your stay in the Amazon forest ends on this fourth day with a magical morning return by river for your flight from Puerto Maldonado. This is an excellent time of day for wildlife observation, as the forest awakens, and looking out for rainforest fauna from our boat with the help of your naturalist guide is the perfect way to bid farewell to Peru’s tropical forests.

IMPORTANT: Please confirm your flight departure details (airline, flight number, estimated arrival time) so our team can arrange your airport drop-off accordingly. Your flight from Puerto Maldonado to Cusco should be in the afternoon, after 13:00 hrs.

In the afternoon, we will welcome you at the Cusco airport upon arrival ready to take you straight to your hotel accommodation.

No tours will be arranged for this afternoon. However, your mandatory Welcome briefing session will take place at 18:00 hrs.

Day 06: Sacred Valley Highlights: Sacsayhuaman - Alpaca Farm - Pisac - Tipon


Your day begins with an 8:00 AM pick-up from your hotel in Cusco, followed by the start of your journey to the Sacred Valley. The first stop is Sacsayhuamán, a remarkable Inca site known for its massive stone walls constructed without mortar. Your guide will provide insights into the site's historical and ceremonial importance, as well as panoramic views of Cusco.

Next, enjoy a visit to a local alpaca farm, where you can interact with these beloved Andean animals and learn about their role in Peruvian culture. Discover the traditional process of making textiles from alpaca wool, a practice that has been passed down for generations.

Continue to Pisac to explore the Inca archaeological site, featuring extensive agricultural terraces and the sacred Intihuatana stone, an astronomical tool used by the Incas. After visiting the ruins, you will have time to visit the Pisac market, where local artisans offer colorful textiles, handmade jewelry, and pottery.

In the afternoon, visit Tipon, known for its impressive terraces and advanced irrigation systems that remain operational today. The site's water channels and fountains demonstrate the Incas’ expertise in agricultural engineering and water management. After a full day of exploration, you will return to Cusco by 5:30 PM, having experienced several of the Sacred Valley’s most significant sites.

Day 07: Chinchero - Morays - Salt Mines - Ollantaytambo

Your guide will meet you at your hotel in Cusco at 8:00 AM to start your day in Chinchero, a traditional Andean village known for its textiles and Inca ruins. At a weaving cooperative, you’ll see how ancient textile techniques are kept alive by the community. You’ll also visit the Chinchero Inca ruins, where you can walk among agricultural terraces and colonial-era buildings.

Next, you’ll visit Moray, an Inca site with circular terraces believed to have been used for farming experiments. Take in the unique landscape and learn about the Inca’s impressive farming skills.

Then, head to the Maras Salt Mines, where thousands of salt ponds are still active. Discover how salt is traditionally harvested and snap some photos of the striking terraced pools.

In the afternoon, visit Ollantaytambo, an Inca fortress with hillside terraces and temple remains. Enjoy the stunning views of the Sacred Valley, and after the tour, take some free time to wander the town’s cobbled streets.

You’ll return to your hotel by late afternoon, after a day full of the Sacred Valley’s culture, history, and beautiful scenery.

Day 08.- Hike the short Inca Trail to Machu picchu.

Your Inca Trail adventure begins with a 5:45 am pick-up from your hotel, followed by a short walk to the train station. You will board the train to kilometer 104, the starting point of the short Inca Trail. At kilometer 104, present your original passport at the official checkpoint for verification and, if desired, receive a stamp. After these formalities, your guide will prepare you for the hike and provide instructions as you begin your journey.

Your first major stop is the Chachabamba Inca site, where you will join a guided tour to learn about its historical significance. The trail then ascends gradually for approximately 3.5 hours, offering opportunities to enjoy scenic views, take photographs, and have snacks. As you pass through the cloud forest, you can observe vibrant orchids and hummingbirds. The next highlight is Wiñay Wayna, often called a miniature Machu Picchu. Here, you will have a guided tour and time to appreciate the site before enjoying lunch.

After lunch, continue hiking for about one hour to reach the Sun Gate, or Inti Punku, which offers panoramic views of Machu Picchu. Arrival is typically around 2 pm, allowing you to enjoy afternoon views of the citadel and, if conditions permit, a sunset. From the Sun Gate, descend for another hour to the upper part of Machu Picchu, where you can take in the scenery, photographs, and videos.

Afterward, take a bus to Aguas Calientes, where you will spend the night. Upon arrival at your hotel, you can freshen up before enjoying dinner at a local restaurant. This memorable day concludes with your arrival at Machu Picchu.

Day 09: Machu Picchu guided tour and back to Cusco

Your day begins early with breakfast at your hotel. After breakfast, your guide will meet you and walk with you to the bus station. You will then take an early bus up to the Machu Picchu citadel. When you arrive, your guided tour of this impressive archaeological site will start and will follow circuit 3. Your guide will show you around the citadel and share interesting details about its temples, water channels, and pathways. You will learn about the history and importance of Machu Picchu.

If you have tickets for Huayna Picchu mountain, you can climb it after your guided tour of Machu Picchu. The round trip takes about two hours. From the top, you will see amazing views of Machu Picchu and the area around it.

After your tour at Machu Picchu, and after climbing Huayna Picchu if you choose, you will take a bus back down to Aguas Calientes. You will have some free time there to enjoy lunch.

After lunch, you will take a train back to the Sacred Valley. When you arrive at the train station, our driver will meet you and drive you back to your hotel in Cusco. You should arrive in Cusco at about 7:30 pm.

This day will be full of exploration, learning, and memorable experiences as you discover the wonders of Machu Picchu.

Day 10: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley.

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel at 4 am for an early start. You will travel to Rainbow Mountain, one of Peru’s natural wonders. The drive to the trailhead takes about 3 hours, with a stop in Cusipata for breakfast after 2 hours.

At the trailhead, located at 4,350 meters (14,271 feet), you will prepare for the hike. The high altitude means the area is cold and dry, so please dress warmly. The 4-kilometer hike to the summit of Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) takes about 2.5 hours and reaches 5,150 meters (16,896 feet). You will have time to enjoy the views, take photographs, and appreciate the scenery.

After visiting Rainbow Mountain, you will continue to the Red Valley, located behind the mountain. The upper valley offers captivating views, with landscapes in vivid red tones, providing a striking contrast to Rainbow Mountain.

After exploring Rainbow Mountain and the Red Valley, you will return along the same path to meet your driver. You will then take a 50-minute drive to a local restaurant for lunch. After your meal, you will return to Cusco, arriving at your hotel around 5:50 pm. This day offers remarkable natural sights and is a memorable addition to your Peruvian adventure.
