Day 01: The Adventure Begins - Cusco - Km 82 - Wayllabamba.

The adventure begins! At 5:00 AM, your guide will meet you at your hotel to begin your Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu. The journey to the trailhead, located at Km 82, takes approximately two and a half hours. Upon arrival, you’ll be introduced to your dedicated team of porters and our skilled chef, who will prepare your first breakfast in the midst of the stunning natural surroundings.

Once you’ve enjoyed your meal, you’ll hand your duffle bag to the porters, lightening your load to a daypack for comfort throughout the hike. As you approach the checkpoint, your original passport will be required for verification by the park rangers. Once cleared, you’ll officially begin your trek along the ancient Inca Trail.

Throughout the day, you’ll experience a variety of breathtaking landscapes, from lush valleys to rugged mountains. Along the trail, you’ll also encounter important Inca archaeological sites. Day 2: Scenic Adventure & Dead Woman's Pass - Pacaymayo.

After a rejuvenating night in luxury camping with comfortable beds, your day begins with a 5:30 AM wake-up call, complemented by a steaming cup of coca tea to energize you for the day ahead. This morning ritual offers a calm start as you prepare your daypack and organize your duffle bag. Soon after, a hearty breakfast awaits, featuring snacks and water to keep you energized for the trek ahead.

By 7:30 AM, your Inca Trail adventure begins. You’ll follow a well-maintained path uphill, navigating through a picturesque valley surrounded by native trees such as Queñas and Uncas. These ancient species provide a beautiful backdrop as you ascend into the Highland forest, where you’ll experience the unique charm of the region’s ecosystems.

After about four hours of trekking, you’ll reach Llulluchapampa, where our expert chef will serve a delicious and nutritious lunch. This marks a well-earned break, giving you the energy needed for the next phase of your journey. Following lunch, you’ll continue your ascent with another two hours of hiking, leading you to Dead Woman’s Pass, the highest point on the Inca Trail at an altitude of 4,200 meters (13,779 feet).

Day 3: The Amaizng day of Inca Trail: Orchids, Inca Sites & Stunning Views

The Inca Trail offers an extraordinary variety of ecosystems, with this day standing out as truly exceptional. As you trek through diverse landscapes, nature presents you with a breathtaking variety of flora, most notably the vibrant orchids. Around Machu Picchu, there are approximately 135 varieties of orchids, and you’ll have the opportunity to encounter many of these stunning blooms. Also, hummingbirds and a variety of bird species follow, adding a touch of magic to the scenery.

Your day begins with an early breakfast, setting the stage for another exciting day of exploration. The first section of the trail involves a moderate ascent lasting about two hours, leading you to Runcuracay, a charming small Inca site. Here, you’ll have the chance to explore the site and gain insights from your expert guide, who will share the historical significance of this area.

After spending time at Runcuracay, continue for another hour to reach the summit, which marks the second-highest point of the trek. From this vantage point, you’ll be rewarded with awe-inspiring panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The landscape here is truly breathtaking, offering photo opportunities that capture the essence of the Andean wilderness.

Next, the trail descends for about one hour and a half, bringing you to Sayacmarca, another stunning Inca site. After exploring Sayacmarca, the trail leads you through lush jungle terrain, eventually entering the cloud forest zone, where the temperature rises, and you may encounter mosquitoes.

Around midday, enjoy a well-deserved lunch break, replenishing your energy for the remainder of the hike. After lunch, you’ll have approximately two more hours of hiking to reach Phuyupatamarka, an ancient Inca site with spectacular views of Machu Picchu Mountain and the nearby town of Aguas Calientes, signaling that you are approaching the iconic Lost City of the Incas.

From Phuyupatamarka, the trail gradually descends over three and a half hours, with numerous stone steps to navigate. Trekking poles are particularly helpful in this section, offering stability and support. You’ll make your way to the final campsite of the day, Wiñayhuayna, located at 2,650 meters of altitude. Here, you’ll camp under a starlit sky and spend your final night on the trail, surrounded by the serene beauty of the Andean landscape.

Day 04: Sunrise at Machu Picchu & Observatory Train Ride

The long-awaited day has arrived, Machu Picchu is finally within reach! Your adventure begins with an early wake-up call at 4:00 AM, a standard routine for all Inca Trail hikers. By 4:30 AM, a hearty breakfast is served to fuel you for the exciting day ahead. By 5:30 AM, you’ll find yourself at the checkpoint, ready to begin your trek.

The journey takes you to the iconic Sun Gate (Inti Punku), located just one hour from the checkpoint. This historic spot, exclusive to Inca Trail hikers, offers the first breathtaking views of Machu Picchu. Arriving at 6:30 AM, you’ll be in time to witness the magical sunrise over the Lost City of the Incas. Be sure to take plenty of photographs and savor the tranquility of the moment.

After soaking in the beauty of the sunrise, continue your descent for about forty minutes, leading you directly to the heart of the Machu Picchu citadel. Here, you’ll have ample time to take in the magnificent surroundings and snap your postcard-perfect pictures. Your expert guide will then lead you on a 3-hour guided tour, delving into the history and significance of the most important areas of the site.

Once your tour is complete, you can say goodbye to the ancient citadel. If you’ve pre-booked tickets for the Huayna Picchu hike (available during the booking process), you’ll have the opportunity to hike this majestic mountain. The hike to the summit takes around two hours, and only 200 permits are issued daily, so be sure to book in advance. The cost is $75 per ticket.

Following your Machu Picchu tour or Huayna Picchu hike, enjoy a delicious lunch at the Indio Feliz Restaurant. Afterward, you’ll board the Vistadome Observatory Train at 3.20 PM from Aguas Calientes. This panoramic train ride features large windows and an observatory car with an open roof, allowing you to fully appreciate the stunning landscape as you travel back to Poroy. Upon arrival, a driver will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco, where you’ll arrive around 8:30 PM, completing your unforgettable Machu Picchu experience.
