Itinerary

Day 01: Our Adventure stars - Hike The Inca Trail

The adventure begins! Today, your guide will collect you from your hotel at 5:00 am, and you'll embark on a roughly 2.5-hour journey to the starting point of the hike, km 82. Here, you'll rendezvous with the dedicated team of porters and our skilled chef, who will prepare your first breakfast amidst the natural beauty that surrounds you.

At this juncture, you'll entrust your duffle bag to the porters, lightening your load to a daypack, ensuring comfort during your hike. As you approach the checkpoint, your original Passport will be required for verification by park rangers. Once cleared, you will officially step onto the royal path, beginning your adventure.

Throughout your hike, the landscape will reveal a treasure trove of natural beauty, including an array of flora and fauna. Along the way, you will also encounter Inca sites of historical significance. Your guide will be your source of knowledge, sharing insights about the surroundings and providing historical context.

The pace of your journey will be comfortable, allowing for frequent breaks to savor snacks and capture photographs. With the entire day at your disposal, you'll proceed at a leisurely yet steady pace, relishing every moment. Lunch will be served midday, around 1 pm, fortifying you for the rest of your day's trekking.

As you continue your trek, more water will be provided to replenish your water bottles. Your destination for the evening is the final campsite, Huayllabamba, nestled at an elevation of 3350m, equivalent to that of Cusco city. Upon arrival at the campsite, our adept team will swiftly set up your tent, ensuring a comfortable night's rest. Warm water will be thoughtfully provided in small plastic containers, along with a towel and soap, allowing you to refresh yourself.

Before dinner, you'll have time to unwind during tea time, and dinner is typically served at 7:30 pm. This marks the beginning of a night filled with anticipation for the adventures that lie ahead.

Day 2: Hike the challenge day of the Inca Trail

After a rejuvenating night's rest in your tent, your day begins with a 5:30 am wake-up call, accompanied by a steaming cup of coca tea to invigorate you. This serene morning ritual allows you time to prepare your daypack and duffle bag. Soon after, a hearty breakfast awaits, complete with snacks and water to keep you energized.

By 7:30 am, the day's trek begins, and you'll find yourself on a path leading uphill. This leg of the journey is all about walking; there's no climbing involved. You'll traverse a picturesque valley, home to some of the oldest trees in the region, including Queñas and uncas, both native to the ecosystem. As you ascend, you'll transition into the Highland forest, characterized by its unique charm.

After approximately four hours of hiking, you'll reach Llulluchapampa, where our talented chef will be ready to serve lunch. This marks a well-deserved break to refuel your energy. Following lunch, you'll continue your ascent, with another two hours of hiking ahead, leading you to the highest point of the trek, Dead Women's Pass, situated at an elevation of 4200 meters (13,779 feet).

At Dead Women's Pass, you'll have the opportunity to capture some of the most breathtaking vistas imaginable. The panoramic views extend in every direction, making it a perfect spot for photos. You'll be able to marvel at the natural beauty surrounding you.

Following this memorable experience, your path leads downhill to the campsite at Pacaymayo Alto, nestled at an altitude of 3650 meters (11,975 feet). Upon your arrival, your tent will be ready and waiting. As you settle in, you can look forward to happy hour, featuring steaming hot drinks that are perfect for warming up in the high-altitude evening.

Dinner is typically served at 7 pm, nourishing you after a rewarding day of trekking. Along the Inca Trail, it's customary to retire early in the evening, as the day's physical demands leave most trekkers feeling tired and ready to rest.

Day 3: The Amaizng day of Inca Trail (Cloud forest área).

The Inca Trail offers a unique blend of ecosystems throughout its course, and this particular day stands out as exceptional. Nature blesses us with the opportunity to marvel at a breathtaking array of flowers, with orchids taking center stage. There are roughly 135 varieties of orchids found around Machu Picchu, and you'll have the pleasure of encountering many of them. Where there are vibrant blooms, you'll also find hummingbirds and a diverse range of bird species.

Your day kicks off with an early breakfast, setting the stage for an exciting adventure. The initial section of the trail involves another ascent, spanning approximately 2 hours. At the halfway point, you'll encounter Runcuracay, a charming small Inca site. Here, you'll have the chance to explore and gain insights from your knowledgeable guide.

Continuing on for another hour, you'll reach the summit, marking the second-highest point of the trek. From this vantage point, you'll be treated to sweeping panoramic vistas that are truly awe-inspiring.

Following the exhilarating descent, which takes about 1.5 hours, you'll arrive at the Sayacmarka Inca site, renowned for its beauty. After your exploration, the trail leads you through lush jungle terrain as you make your way to the cloud forest zone. The environment becomes noticeably different here, with warmer temperatures and the occasional presence of mosquitoes.

Lunchtime arrives around midday, offering a well-deserved break. Following lunch, you'll have approximately 2 hours of hiking left to reach Phuyupatamarka. This location provides spectacular views of Machu Picchu Mountain and the town of Aguas Calientes, signaling your proximity to the Lost City of the Incas.

From this point onward, the trail offers a gentle descent with numerous stone steps to navigate. Trekking poles come in handy during this section, providing stability and support. You'll continue for about 3.5 hours until reaching the final campsite at Wiñayhuana, situated at an elevation of 2650 meters (8,694 feet). Here, you'll spend your last night camping under the starlit sky, surrounded by the captivating beauty of the Andean landscape.

Day 04: Machu Picchu Citadel and back to Cusco.

The most anticipated day has arrived—Machu Picchu awaits you! Today's adventure begins with a very early wake-up call at 3:30 AM, a routine followed by all hiking groups. Breakfast is served promptly at 4 AM, preparing you for an exciting day ahead. By 5:30 AM, you'll find yourself at the checkpoint, ready to begin your trek.

The trail leads to a renowned and iconic location, the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), which is reached after approximately 1 hour of hiking. This special spot is exclusively accessible to Inca Trail hikers and holds the key to the first breathtaking views of Machu Picchu. Arriving at around 6:30 AM, you'll be just in time to witness the magical sunrise over Machu Picchu—an unforgettable experience. Take this moment to capture photographs and soak in the serene ambiance.

Following the mesmerizing sunrise, the path continues with a gradual descent of about 40 minutes, leading you to the heart of the Machu Picchu citadel. Here, you'll have ample time to capture the best postcard-worthy pictures of this magnificent archaeological site. Your knowledgeable guide will then lead you on a comprehensive tour of Machu Picchu, lasting around 3 hours at most. During this guided walk, you'll explore the most significant and captivating areas within the citadel.

After completing your guided tour, you'll bid farewell to the Lost City of the Incas. However, if you've previously booked permits for Huayna Picchu (which should be confirmed during the booking process), you'll have the opportunity to hike this extraordinary mountain. The hike typically takes around 2 hours to ascend and descend, and there are only 50 available spots each day. Booking in advance is essential, and the cost is $75 per ticket.

After your tour or hike, you'll enjoy a delicious lunch at the Sanctuary Lodge. Following lunch, you'll board the Vistadome Observatory Train , which departs at 4:20 PM from Aguas Calientes. This unique train ride offers panoramic windows and an observatory car with an open roof, allowing you to fully appreciate the stunning views of the passing landscape. The train journey takes you to Ollantaytambo, where our driver will be waiting to transport you back to your hotel in Cusco. You can expect to arrive at your hotel around 8:30 PM, concluding your remarkable Machu Picchu adventure.
