Your knowledgeable guide will make stops at various points so you can fully appreciate and capture the breathtaking scenery.

One of the highlights of the tour is a visit to an Alpaca farm. Here, you'll have the delightful opportunity to encounter llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, and guanacos up close. Your guide will provide fascinating insights into each of these South American camelids, helping you distinguish between them and learn about their unique characteristics and of course the weaving tecniques.

Continuing your journey, you'll arrive at the Pisac Inca site. This is one of the larger and more significant Inca sites in the Sacred Valley, and it was primarily constructed for agricultural purposes. The site comprises distinct sectors, including urban, religious, and agricultural areas. Your guide will lead you on a tour, providing historical context and sharing interesting details about the site's purpose and layout. After exploring Pisac, your next stop is the town of Pisac itself, where you'll have the opportunity to visit the local market. This market offers a glimpse into the traditional exchange of products still practiced by the local population. It's a great place to shop for souvenirs if you wish.

Following your visit to the market, you'll travel to Urubamba for lunch. Enjoy a delicious meal, then head to the Ollantaytambo Inca site. Ollantaytambo is known as the last living Inca city and features impressive rock formations that represent the Inca god Wirachocha. Your guide will lead you on a tour of this fascinating site, sharing insights into its historical and cultural significance.

The day concludes with your arrival in Ollantaytambo town, where your guide will escort you to your hotel. You'll have some free time in the afternoon to explore the charming local town on your own. The adventure begins early in the morning at 5:45 AM when we pick you up from your hotel. You'll take a short walk to the train station, where we'll board the train to km 104, the starting point of the Short Inca Trail. At this checkpoint, you'll need to show your original passport and get it stamped if you wish.

After getting ready for the hike, you'll begin your journey. The trail starts with a visit to the Chacabamba Inca site, which is located at the beginning of the hike. Here, you'll have a guided tour to learn about its history. Then, you'll continue walking. The first section involves a gradual uphill climb that lasts for about 3.5 hours. Along the way, there will be several stops where you can enjoy the breathtaking views, take photos, and have some snacks. This part of the trail passes through a cloud forest, where you can spot various exotic flowers, especially orchids, and observe hummingbirds. As you hike further, you'll arrive at the incredible Inca site of Wiñay Wayna, often referred to as a small Machu Picchu. You'll have a guided tour of this remarkable site and some free time to explore and appreciate its uniqueness. Afterward, you'll enjoy lunch.

Following lunch, you'll have about an hour of hiking left to reach the Sun Gate (Inti Punku). This gate is exclusive to Inca Trail hikers and provides a spectacular view of Machu Picchu. Typically, you'll arrive at the Sun Gate around 2 PM, which is a perfect time to enjoy the afternoon views of the citadel and potentially witness the sunset.

From the Sun Gate, you'll have another hour of gradual downhill hiking until you reach the Machu Picchu citadel itself. The trail leads you directly to the upper part of Machu Picchu, offering the best panoramic views of the archaeological site. You'll have ample time to enjoy these incredible views, take photos, and explore the area. Afterward, you'll take a bus down to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you'll spend the night. Upon arriving at your hotel, you can freshen up with a shower, and then you'll have dinner at a local restaurant to conclude your day of adventure.

As you arrive at this extraordinary Inca site, your guide will lead you to the uppermost part, offering you a chance to witness the sunrise (season-dependent) and capture breathtaking photos of Machu Picchu in its early morning splendor.

Take your time to absorb the awe-inspiring beauty and magic that the New Wonder of the World has to offer. Your guide will then lead you on a comprehensive walking tour, exploring the most significant sectors and palaces within Machu Picchu. This guided tour typically lasts about 2 and a half hours.

Upon completing the tour, if you have secured a Huayna Picchu ticket, you'll have the option to hike this renowned mountain. Day 04: Humantay Lagoon – Salkantay glacier views.

Prepare for an exhilarating full-day adventure! Your guide will pick you up from your hotel promptly at 4 am. From there, we embark on a roughly 2-hour drive to Mollepata, a charming local village where we'll enjoy a hearty breakfast. Following our meal, we'll continue on a 1-hour drive along a dusty road to Soraypampa, situated at an elevation of 3,850 meters. Due to the high altitude, this area can be quite chilly, so be sure to layer up with warm clothing, gloves, and a hat.

From May to October, the weather is typically sunny, so don't forget a good sunhat and sunscreen. Once we're all set and ready, our journey begins with a 2-hour ascent, gradually leading us to the beautiful Humantay Lake. The final stretch of the hike is steeper, but the breathtaking views that await make every step worth it. Humantay Lake is surrounded by towering mountains, adorned with glistening glaciers, most notably the Salkantay glacier, which ranks as the second-highest peak in the Cusco region.

Upon reaching the lake, you'll be captivated by its sheer beauty, and it's the perfect opportunity to soak in the serenity of this natural wonder. The views are simply mesmerizing. After fully immersing ourselves in the beauty of Humantay Lake, we'll retrace our steps along the same trail, returning to Soraypampa. This hike back takes approximately 1.5 hours. From there, we'll board our transportation for the journey back to Mollepata, where a delicious lunch awaits.

Get ready for an unforgettable day! Your guide will pick you up from your hotel at 4 am, and together, we'll embark on a roughly 3-hour drive to the trailhead. Along the way, we'll make a stop for a hearty breakfast to fuel up for the journey ahead.

Once we reach the trailhead, situated at an elevation of 4,350 meters, it's time to prepare and start our hike. The region is known for its cold and dry climate due to the high altitude, so make sure to dress warmly and be ready for the adventure. The trek is approximately 4 kilometers long, lasting nearly 2.5 hours, as we ascend to the summit of Rainbow Mountain, also known as Winikunqa, which stands at an impressive 5,150 meters above sea level.

Upon reaching the summit, you'll have ample time to savor the breathtaking beauty of this natural wonder and capture memorable photographs. The vibrant colors of Rainbow Mountain are truly a sight to behold. But the adventure doesn't end there. We'll continue our hike to explore the Red Valley, located on the backside of Rainbow Mountain. From the higher vantage point, you'll be treated to a panoramic view of this unique all-red valley.

After relishing the wonders of both Rainbow Mountain and the Red Valley, we'll retrace our steps along the same path, returning to where our driver awaits. We'll then enjoy a scenic 50-minute drive to a restaurant, where you'll indulge in a delicious and well-deserved lunch.
