Itinerary

Day 01.- Hike the short Inca Trail to Machu picchu.

The adventure begins with an early start as we pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:30 AM. We embark on a 1.5-hour journey to Ollantaytambo train station, where we'll indulge in a delicious breakfast. After our satisfying meal, we'll board the Vistadome train departing at 7:05 AM. The train ride will last for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, taking us to kilometer 104, the starting point of the short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

At this checkpoint, you'll need to present your original passport, and you can get a stamp if you wish. Once the paperwork is sorted, you'll be ready to kick off the hike. The trail commences with a gentle incline, and along the way, we'll visit the Chacabamba Inca site, located at the beginning of the trail. Your guide will provide an informative tour of this site.

Continuing our journey, the initial section of the trail consists of a gradual uphill climb, lasting approximately 3.5 hours. Throughout the hike, you'll have various opportunities to pause for snacks, savor the breathtaking views, and capture stunning photographs. The landscape transforms into a cloud forest, where you'll encounter colorful flowers, particularly orchids, and observe hummingbirds in their natural habitat.

Our next significant stop will be at the remarkable Inca site of Wiñayhuayna, often regarded as a miniature Machu Picchu by many travelers. Here, you'll receive a guided tour and have ample time to appreciate the site's unique charm. Afterward, we'll indulge in a gourmet lunch, freshly prepared by our skilled trekking chef.

Following lunch, it's just a one-hour walk to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), an exclusive vantage point that only Inca Trail hikers have access to. We typically arrive at the Sun Gate by 2:00 PM, providing the perfect opportunity to admire the afternoon views of Machu Picchu and, if you're lucky, witness a magnificent sunset. From the Sun Gate, it's just a one-hour gradual downhill hike that will lead us to the entrance of the Machu Picchu citadel.

This segment of the trail leads directly to the upper part of Machu Picchu, providing you with the best panoramic views of the citadel. You'll have plenty of time to soak in the beauty, take photographs, and create lasting memories. Afterward, you'll board a bus that will transport you down to Aguas Calientes, where you'll spend the night.
