The Short Inca Trail to Machu picchu 2 days is a shorter alternative to the classic 4-day trek and is designed for those with limited time or those who prefer a less strenuous hike. is a popular option for travelers who want to experience the beauty and history of the Inca Trail but have limited time or physical capabilities.

This shorter trek is less physically demanding than the full 4-day Inca Trail, making it accessible to a wider range of travelers. It still offers a taste of the stunning Andean landscape and the awe-inspiring ruins of Machu Picchu. This Inca Trail Express is rich in flora and fauna and rich in history. The 1-day hike is 12 kilometers long, starting at 2,000 meters/6,560 feet and topping out at 2,720 meters/8,924 feet.

When you embark on our 1-day Inca Trail trek, you will experience a train journey along the Urubamba River through the foothills of the Andes to the start of the trek, known as km 104. Then hike the short Inca Trail and visit the citadel of Machu Picchu! The trail passes through the national park, the Wiñay Wayna archaeological site, and enters through the Puerta del Sol (Sun gate) for unforgettable views of the majestic Machu Picchu. Upon arrival at Machu Picchu, take a private guided tour to see all the hidden corners of the Inca monument.

Day 1: Welcome to Cusco.

  • We will be at Cusco airport waiting for you,  we will transfer you to the downtown of Cusco city where is the hotel.
  • you will have free to to relax and walk around the city, it gives you chance to adjust to the altitude
  • At 6pm your tour guide will meet with you at the hotel for the briefing

Day 2: Cusco to Pisac and Ollantaytambo

  • Start your day with breakfast at your hotel, and then embark on a scenic drive to the Sacred Valley.
  • First stop: Pisac. Visit the Pisac Market, famous for its handicrafts, textiles, and traditional goods.
  • Explore the Pisac Archaeological Park, featuring impressive Inca ruins overlooking the valley.
  • Continue your journey to Ollantaytambo, a charming town with well-preserved Inca ruins and a fascinating history.
  • Spend the night in Ollantaytambo to prepare for your upcoming Inca Trail trek.

Day 3: Begin the Inca Trail

  • Have breakfast at the hotel, pick ip at 7.30am and drive about 30m to the starting point of the Inca Trail at Kilometer 82.
  • Begin your 4-day trek, passing through beautiful Andean landscapes, including lush forests and small villages.
  • Reach your first campsite at Huayllabamba and enjoy a hearty meal prepared by your trekking team.

Day 4: Inca Trail to Pacaymayo

  • This is one of the most challenging days of the trek. You’ll ascend to the highest point of the trail, known as Warmiwañusca or “Dead Woman’s Pass,” at approximately 13,800 feet (4,215 meters) above sea level.
  • Descend to the Pacaymayo campsite, where you can rest and recover after a physically demanding day.

Day 5: Pacaymayo to Winay Wayna

  • Continue your journey along the Inca Trail, passing through beautiful cloud forests and visiting the archaeological sites of Runkurakay and Sayacmarca.
  • Reach the stunning ruins of Phuyupatamarca, which offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
  • Finally, arrive at the Winay Wayna campsite, located near the terraces of the same name. This is your last night on the trail.

Day 6: Machu Picchu

  • Wake up early 3.30am and start your trek to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), where you’ll have your first breathtaking view of Machu Picchu as the sun rises over the ancient citadel.
  • Descend to Machu Picchu and explore the site with a knowledgeable guide who can provide insights into its history and significance.
  • After our guided tour, take a bus to Aguas Calientes, where you can relax, enjoy a meal.
  • In the afternoon, return to Ollantaytambo by train, where our driver will pick you up and drive back to Cusco your hotel, completing your memorable journey.

Day 7: Hike to rainbow Mountain

  • Pick up at 4am from your hotel , drive almost 2h until cusipata where we will have breakfast.
  • Hike to Rainbow Mountain: Upon reaching the trailhead, you’ll start the hike to Rainbow Mountain. The hike typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace and fitness level. The trail can be challenging due to the high altitude (over 14,000 feet or 4,300 meters) and the steep terrain.
  • Arrival at Rainbow Mountain: You’ll arrive at the viewpoint overlooking Rainbow Mountain, where you can marvel at the incredible geological formations and vibrant colors of the mountain. This is the highlight of the tour, and you’ll have time to take photos, explore the area, and soak in the stunning views.
  • Return Hike: After your time at the summit, you’ll begin the hike back to the trailhead, which usually takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. have lunch then journey back to Cusco, arriving by 5 to 6pm.

Day 8: Goodbye, transfer back to the airport.

  • 2 hours brefore of your flight departure, we will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the airport and say you good bye, thank you for traveling with us.

Weather: Cusco has 2 big different season, dry season from mid April to October with sunny days and mostly recommended months to do any kind of hike or tours to Machu picchu, during this period we have blue sky and allows us to enjoy the best views. The wet season are from November to April, the beggining months, there is les rain or some years not, from January to March is mostly rains a lot. – for these season you must bring good rain gear.
